When faced with her only child entering school full time, Jeannine Kennedy knew she needed a new creative outlet to fill her days. Wedding planning made the short list of possibilities, and ultimately, FAVOR Events was born. In November 2009, Jeannine launched a new image & style blog devoted to wedding & event planners. The Stylish Planner is the only resource of its kind, covering everything from personal branding to simple fashion solutions for busy event planning professionals.
The inspiration for my wedding shoebox came from a photo shoot for the blog design*sponge. My sweet friend and amazing wedding stylist, Joy Thigpen did this shoot and I immediately thought of my mother’s flour sack china. When I saw this shoot, I felt like it had been created just for me – it contained so many wonderful vintage, outdoor touches that I adore.
I think the simplicity of this bouquet is amazing and I love the collar made of dusty miller, which has this beautiful green/gray fuzzy quality to it. I love depression glass. I love feeling the raised patterns and the seams where the two pieces were forged together. Things just aren’t made like this today. This table linen is so lovely. It would pick up the color of the bridesmaids dresses as well. I think the contrast between the rustic charger and the delicate china would be so lovely. When working on outdoor weddings, I think it is important to incorporate the outdoors on the table in ways other than just flowers. The dress is in the softest shade of gray I think I’ve ever seen. I think the wrap style is very flattering to most figures and I like the casual elegance of the dress design. I would think ladies would be happy to wear it again and again and I like this wedding dress because it is short and the skirt is a little flirty without being risqué. Also, the lace overlay has a wonderful vintage quality to it.
