Here are tips from two designers featured for their In Her Shoebox inspiration boards.

My biggest wedding tip is to not be afraid to break the rules. Your wedding should be about you and your special someone and the commitment you’re making to yourselves around your loved ones. Don’t get caught up in the madness, the stress, and trying to do all of the things you’re supposed to do. I think the thing that I hear most often from brides after the big day is that it went by so fast (the wedding itself). It’s so important to create the kind of wedding that you can enjoy and spend with your loved ones without stressing over every little detail.

Always order 25 more invitations than you think you’ll need. Re-printing small quantities can be pricey and those days spent waiting for more invitations to be printed and shipped can really affect your timeline.

  1. Take a deep breath and SOAK IT ALL IN!! You’ve waited long enough for this day, so just enjoy it! Stop for 2-3 seconds before you walk down the aisle, and make eye contact with those who are sharing your special day with you.

  2. My favorite is definitely to not be afraid to break the rules. I tell my brides that all the time. And, to stop worrying what everyone (including your Moms) think. It’s your wedding, not theirs!

  3. I remind each and every bride I work with “if your fiance arrives safely, you have an officiant and a marriage license then that is all that matters.” I love cakes, flowers, a lovely dress and a fun time (for great photos of course) as much as the next girl but it all boils down to making a commitment to the one you love. Everything else is just “lagniappe!”
