Ringing in a New Year

January 2, 2009  |  Southern Fete News  |  No Comments

Southern Fete is going through some new and exciting changes! This new year’s I rang in 2009 at a New Year’s Eve Party I coordinated for Stephanie and Bob. The couple is from San Francisco but Stephanie grew up and has family in New Iberia. The party was a great time to get the whole family together. One word to describe the event would have to be festive. The energy and fun was non-stop. I was honored to be a part of such an exciting event!

Special events were alway something I saw expanding into in the future but opportunities came knocking sooner then I expected, so here we are! I will be updating the Web site  soon with a new package for events including showers, parties, Mardi Gras balls, etc.

We have a few more exciting changes at Southern Fete that I can’t wait to share with you! Check back later this week for more details.

And here’s a little eye candy to start your year off right. Enjoy!

I am so excited to show you photos from Alexis and Seth’s wedding. I’ve known Alexis since we were about five when we lived across the street from each other. It was so nice to get to hang out again while planning her wedding. We had an unexpected visitor that weekend when Hurricane Ike brought nasty weather for the dress rehearsal and temporarily knocked out power. Luckily Saturday brought sunshine and mild weather despite the storm. The ceremony took place at Highland Baptist Church and was followed by a reception at The ManorDigiPics from New Iberia did a great job capturing the big day. 1-511 1-58 2-16 Ty and his wonderful team from Beyond Flowers dressed the church with arrangements and outfitted the bridal party and family with beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres.  3-49 We created a customized monogram and carried the theme through the programs, napkins and c.d. favors.  3-32 3-371 4-18 Crystal Weddings created a gorgeous confection with butter cream filling! 4-47 3-23 4-61

Congratulations Seth and Alexis!

Picking your first dance song can sometimes fall to the wayside with all the other details that have to be taken care of. But this is your first dance as a husband and wife. You’re going to want to enjoy all 3:30 minutes of it! (And so will your guest.) If you are looking for something fresh and modern (don’t worry there will always be a place for Etta James) here were several favorites. Some of them are a bit faster than their traditional counterparts but I figured a few of you have some fast moves you’ve been waiting to show off. Enjoy!

You are the Best Thing – Ray Lamontagne
I’m Yours – Jason Mraz
We Belong Together – Gavin Degraw
Look After You – The Fray
Be Mine – David Gray
This Kind of Love – Sister Hazel
Love Remains the Same – Gavin Rossdale

And if you really want to make an exit, crank up “Two Tickets to Paradise”  by Eddie Money as you head off for the honeymoon.

Bare brown trees and blue skies

December 10, 2008  |  Color Me Inspired  |  No Comments

I am always trying to think outside the box when it comes to color palettes. So for this Fall into Winter inspiration I looked to the skies for a little inspiration. One of my favorite things, after the leaves change colors, is the bare branches left behind. On a clear blue-skyed day, it always reminds me of filigree details. We continued the filigree theme with cutout cupcake holders. Enjoy!
