2014 … It’s truly been an incredible year! The Southern Fete family continues to grow – making me even more proud every day. While it’s easy to recap the year by the number of events were a part of, 2014 was more about the relationships we established and the friends we’ve made along the way. I could certainly go on and on, but I think the best way to recap the year is through some of my most favorite photos from a crew of super-talented photographers!
I can not wait to see what 2015 has in store!
I love this job for so many reasons but one is reconnecting with old friends. Jeanne and I grew up in the same neighborhood and knew each other when we were younger. When she emailed me to work with her on her wedding, I was so excited.
Jeanne and Brandon have truly the sweetest souls and were beyond a delight to work with. One of my favorite memories from their wedding day was pinning the “Ring Security” badge on Brandon’s son and ring bearer, Ethan. He took his job very seriously, and it was so fun to see him so excited about his dad and Jeanne getting married.
Lindsey Michelle did such a great job capturing so many special moments throughout their wedding day!
If you didn’t believe me earlier about the night’s ring security, shame on you! How adorable are these photos?!
Ethan wasn’t the only cute kid that night! These flower girls were SO well behaved. You have no idea how happy that makes a planner!
We love when there’s time to snap a photo with our couples! Harley and I had the best time and are so honored to have been part of your big day!

When Hannah asked me to help with a styled shoot that would turn into a surprise proposal, I was elated. It happened to be one the same day as one of our weddings, so I knew unless I was bestowed some magical power of teleportation I wouldn’t actually be able to be there. I even had to tell myself not to wish for rain so they’d have to postpone – meaning I could be there!
Hannah was fabulous about sending me sneak peaks throughout the morning, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about how it turned out or about Dylan + Casie’s upcoming wedding! I hope you enjoy them as much as we did putting it together!
Cheers to love, fabulous color, and the woods!

This year is going by too fast, so we’re taking a step back to recap Josie and Jonathan’s April wedding! I met Josie and her mom just 30 days prior to her big day … that’s right THIRTY days! I’m pretty sure it was on April’s Fools day. We wasted no time in wrapping up the final details on what was truly one of the most beautiful weddings. Josie was such a trusting bride … music to a wedding planner’s ears!
There’s something about family property that makes a wedding/reception so very special. Josie and Jonathan’s reception was held on family property next to Spanish Lake. The tent, the lights, the entry arch all came together beautifully! It was the first time we worked with Dawn Earles, and let me tell you this lady is beyond talented. We had the hardest time picking favorites because every single picture was fabulous!

I remember when I first met with Emily and her mom about her October 2014 wedding like it was yesterday. Having put together that I went to high school with her brother before we initially met, I was sure that I would hit it off with them immediately. I was right!
Emily was such a sweet bride who never lost focus on what her wedding was really about – marrying her true love! Despite all of the details we waded through to make her wedding come to life, she never lost her enthusiasm or perspective. It made my job such a pleasure knowing that these two truly trusted me to handle “the rest” while they stayed focused on becoming Mr. and Mrs.
The weather was beyond perfect for their wedding! I was able to spend some time with the guys (not usually the case) before the wedding, and all of them were so calm! I asked them if they remembered they had a wedding that day … just to be sure!
I couldn’t be more excited to share my favorites from their wedding captured by the ever-talented Catherine Guidry!
Emily + Derek – Thank you for making my job a dream! I wish you all of the happiness in the world and was honored to be a part of such a special day.

Every wedding is special to me for different reasons. October was our busiest month yet and just so happened to wrap up with Cat + Mike’s wedding in Ruston. That’s right. Southern Fete went to Ruston! We honestly could NOT have had a better time or felt more welcome by both the Hunt and Judice families. But, before I get into the good stuff (aka the pictures), a little story of how we met.
This was my first wedding where I didn’t meet the couple until two days before the wedding. We had video chatted and I tried to assure Cat all was good since we shared a first name (except I spelled it correctly :)), but this was the real deal. From the minute we met in person, it felt as if we had been friends for years. Even for this non-hugger, there were hugs involved.
The family property where the ceremony and reception was held was unbelievable. I must have said 100 times that I felt bad for actually having my cell phone. Technically, I couldn’t put it away since I had a job to do, but I felt so many times that I should have just thrown it into the most beautiful lake and dealt with the repercussions later.
There’s so much more to be said, but I’ll leave it to the amazing work of Erin and Geoffrey photography with – of course – a little commentary of my own.
Knowing Cat has a fashion background and is now studying textiles, I could only picture what her dress would look like. It was nothing short of stunning.
I think this picture should win an award. These girls were beyond precious and so excited to be part of Aunt Cat and Uncle Mike’s big day.
“Oh, there’s a wedding today? We’ll be in on time. Just one quick paddle around the lake!” Next time, I’m adding a bit of time into my own timeline for a paddle! 🙂
You may take Mike’s look here to be one of panic. But he was pinned on the first try.
Who wouldn’t want to get married right here?
The back of Cat’s dress – swoon!
Is this real life?
My favorite picture of all time!
Cat’s bouquet was breathtaking. The colors, the shape, everything. It was also her arm workout for the day. Killing two birds with one stone. Just the way we like it!
The Original Tuxedo Jazz band wooed guests with the most Southern of jazzy tunes.
Yes, that’s a fried egg on top of a salad. Jealous?
Among my favorites for a groom’s cake. It tasted equally as good as it looked!
These two. It’s clear where Cat gets her Southern charm and big, genuine heart. Her parents were so welcoming from the time we arrived and honestly made us feel more like we were guests than workers. Mr. Jimmy even INSISTED we dance with him to a song. I certainly have some work to do to match his moves, but I left Ruston feeling as though I’m now an honorary member of the Hunt family!
Remember I said I couldn’t throw my cell phone in the lake. Well this is one of the reasons why. A quick call to the mayor of Squire Creek across the lake and guests were treated to a firework show! They chanted “Mrs. Judice,” and cheered each time there was a seeming finale! Record books friends. Record. Books.
Again, is this real life?
Visibly displaying what a 14-hour work day looks like, but we couldn’t have been happier to be part of Cat and Mike becoming Mr. and Mrs. Judice!
Cat and Mike – It was beyond a privilege to be part of your big day. We’re ready to do it all over again in a second! Wishing you all of the happiness in the world. I truly cannot wait to visit you both in the big city!
Cheers to true love … and Ruston … and Mr. and Mrs. Judice!
