Married :: Laura + Mark

December 9, 2011  |  Southern Fete News

Laura and Mark of two of a kind! During the first stages of planning, Laura told me they were looking for an Italy-inspired wedding. I was so excited to begin working on ideas because not only was it something I’ve never done before, but it also could spur TONS of ideas! Laura and Mark wanted to incorporate some of their favorite love poems and lyrics into their guest book. One dilemma. We, of course, wanted it to be cute! : ) We create a custom book that they’ll get to read they favorite poems from and be reminded of their wedding day and the people that shared it forever.

She knew she wanted to get married in front of the Jefferson House instead of the lake. Of 7 previous weddings there, I had never done one at the house. We lined the aisles with antique looking lanterns, wine boxes and flowers to create some dimension. Programs were accordian-style with a brown wood-textured covering and a soft cotton lace.

Guests were then invited to walk through the gardens to a lake view cocktail hour. We set up a table of olive oil favors (inspired by Italy) with each guests name and table number to help them find their seat. We filled the Bayless center with 500 clear wine bottle candle sticks. The glow and entire atmosphere was so warm and cozy!

Laura changed into a black Monique Lluilier dress for the reception and the party was taken outside under cafe lights and vine chandeliers. We set up lounge furniture with a fire pit for guests to stay warm and enjoy smores.

I can’t thank Dawn Earles enough for how well she captured all the details. I always tell brides, spend a lot on photos because this is how you will remember your wedding day when your own memories fade. Laura and Mark have an incredible treasure chest of memories thanks to you, Dawn!! See more photos here.

Stay tuned! I’ve got a second post coming today that will make you cry happy tears! ; )
