I’ve known from Taryn since high school and honestly didn’t think she could become and sweeter or kinder … but she has. When she called me to meet with her and Matthew about their wedding, I was over the moon. The day I had to call her to tell her I wouldn’t be at her wedding because I was due with Neil that week, I was heartbroken. She handled the news with such grace, and I knew that she would be in great hands without me there.
Taryn and Matthew have beautiful old souls (and that being a wonderful compliment from this other old soul). Their positive personalities remind me of the love you see in movies. A romantic, passionate, and lasting kind of love. From their vintage coke bottle proposal to the last kiss of the night, they captured our hearts but even more so renewed our faith in genuine love.
Let’s not forget about how fun they are! A “Where’s Waldo” guest book, S-C-H-M-I-D coffee cups, and a wedding party dance off. This couple’s guests were nothing short of a good time! They danced the night away to Rockin’ Dopsie, who never disappoint!
Weddings are filled with all kinds of love, even puppy love. Gracie made an appearance and the bride couldn’t have been happier.
Guess who’s ready for the big day?!!!
Obsessing over these unique flower girl wreaths!
Taryn and Matthew: Your love is inspiring. Thanks for letting us witness a marriage filled with a lifetime of love and happiness. I am so glad your day turned out the way it did. It was nothing short of perfect, exactly what you two deserve!

We never want to have to go to rain plan, but knowing Mother Nature we’re always prepared. The Monday of Johnae and Dylan’s wedding, the forecast was bleak. We knew the rain plan was a must. But this was one rain plan that was equally as stunning. From hand lettered signage by the bride, to the ceremony arch made by the bride’s uncle, to a cobbler station in honor of the groom, I could write for hours about all of the details of this wedding, but I know you’d rather see than read. Here are some of our favorite images captured by 63 Films.
That dress! So stunning.
See what I mean about the arch? Such a special piece.
Another fabulous live painting from Meredith Piper Art!
We feel a particular bond with the winding back roads and bayous of South Louisiana, especially Charenton. Southern Fete was lucky enough to go back to this small, sleepy town to witness Jena & Brandon profess their love for each other in the most unique way.
Mother Nature always has another plan for us, but this time the rain plan outshined the original plan and Jena & Brandon’s tented reception was purely magical. The grey skies added to the rich colors of the surroundings and it was all captured perfectly by Erin & Geoffrey Photography.
Special touches make a wedding and really show guests how much the couple (and their families) love one another. This wedding was chock full of special details: custom vows, an uncle officiant, family property & oak trees (swoon), cake stands from a grandmother, a tree remembering those lost, a custom painting of the couple by the bride, custom calligraphed escort cards, the bride’s henna, cakes and treats made from the family bakery….the list goes on.
Check this day out… it’s one for the history books!
Jena & Brandon – thank you for showing us what lasting love feels and looks like. You reminded me that two people can be individuals and one person all at once, and that is truly special. I’ll never forget your sweet smiles for each other and your family’s deep love for the two of you. Charenton has proved that good friends come out of the most off the map places…I think I took a few friends from your converted barn and I’m convinced those friendships will most certainly last. Cheers to my people!

Have you ever felt love when you walked into a room? We have! Kristin and Joe’s winter wedding was nothing short of a fairy tale. This genuine couple’s first look warmed our hearts as they shared emotional letters full of excitement. Their grateful spirits shine through their relationship, and are reflected by their family and friends.
Festive socks, holly berries and Christmas trees filled the venue creating the perfect start to the holidays! See for yourself in these gorgeous photos by Hannah Mulligan Photography!
These ladies were filled happiness for Kristin’s big day!
Nothing compares to a mother’s love!
Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge!
Kristin and Joe – I could not be more excited that I was able to be a part of your big day! You were always so sweet and thoughtful. We enjoyed every minute of your day and wish you a lifetime of happiness. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your celebration!
These two are sweet as pie. Elizabeth is such a ball of the best kind of energy, and Jeremy is her balancing force. They are best friends, and it’s profoundly obvious. Thinking back, this was the first weekend that we had a pinch of fall temperatures and we were all thrilled.
When I got their gallery from Erin and Geoffrey Photography and began to think about what I was going to say about their wedding, I realized I really didn’t have to say much at all. I’m pretty sure I smiled and giggled through every photo reliving their incredible day. But there was ONE special thing I just couldn’t help but mention … our first wedding with Twin’s gingerbread brides and grooms + Kleinpeter milk. If Elizabeth + Jeremy wasn’t a match made in heaven enough, they sealed the deal with that. Seriously, delicious.
Elizabeth and Jeremy – You made my job a breeze. You were always so excited about your special day and never lost focus of what it was really about. You infused every detail with your personalities and had the very best time. It was an honor to be part of it and watch such a special beginning to what I know will be an amazing future for the both of you.

If you didn’t know it already, allow me to tell you just how much I love fall. Why do you ask?
- WHITE pumpkins (a completely different category than regular pumpkins, people!)
- Delicious smelling candles
- Crisp, cool air
- The best color palate that exists
- Candy and Food
- Candy corn – not to be combined with the above category
- Gumbo and Soups – also not to be combined with no. 7
- WEDDING season
and who are we kidding
As a wedding planner, the fall takes on a whole new meaning. Exhaustion. But, I’m choosing not to focus on that. I’m basking in the glory that is my Hayfield candle, the (fake) fall foliage promptly displayed around the house/office on September 1, and the thought of redecorating on both October and November 1.
You think I’m rambling? Not so fast.
The reason you need to know how much I love the fall is so you will be able to relive my excitement when Inkling Design Studio gave me a sneak peek of her fall and Halloween designs. How to choose a favorite – especially when there are so many have DOTS! Do yourself a favor and hop on over to peruse the designs. Then, find a notepad and start an invite list. Which party will you be hosting this fall?
Here are a few of my favorites!
Let’s raise our pumpkin spice lattes to a wonderful and bountiful Fall 2014!
